After gaining national attention on American Idol, Alabama-born Paul McDonald returned to his Nashville songwriting roots. His latest work, "So Long to the Dark Side," is a gospel-tinged collection of "cosmic Americana" influenced by Tom Petty. Alongside The Mourning Doves, McDonald delivers a raw, lived-in energy that blurs the line between a rock show and a revival.
